WEEKLY UPDATES
SIXTH GRADE
In Ancient Civilization class, we have been diving into the fascinating world of Ancient Egypt. Students are very engaged, asking thoughtful and insightful questions leading to meaningful discussion about many varying topics.
Upcoming Quiz:
Students will have a quiz on their knowledge of Ancient Egypt soon. This will cover key topics such as the geography of the Nile and pertinent vocabulary. Please encourage your student to review their notes and study materials to prepare effectively.
Artifact Project:
We are thrilled to announce that we will soon begin an Artifact Project. This hands-on project will allow students to explore and create replicas of significant ancient Egyptian artifacts. They will have the opportunity to research various items, such as jewelry, pottery, or even models of pyramids, fostering both creativity and a deeper understanding of Ancient Egyptian culture.
Online Celebration with Mr. Nicky:
Additionally, we have a special treat planned! We will host an online celebration featuring Mr. Nicky, a popular YouTuber known for his engaging parody songs that bring history to life. This event promises to be both educational and entertaining, allowing students to enjoy learning about ancient history in a fun way and to tap inot this musical and lyrical side through the creation of their own history parodies. This celebration will occur on 12/20/2024.
Thank you to the Bromfield PTO for their generous support.
In FLEX class, students participated in a fun and engaging game called Draw with Descriptors. This game not only encourages creativity but also emphasizes the importance of effective communication. Students read descriptions aloud to a peer who tried to accurately recreate the image based on their perception of descriptors.
When the game ended, teachers discussed how clear communication is crucial not just for success in the game, but also in school and throughout life. Students practiced articulating their thoughts and ideas, learning how to convey messages effectively to achieve a common goal.
We believe that these skills are vital for their overall development and success, and we appreciate your support in reinforcing the importance of communication at home.

SEVENTH GRADE
In social studies, we’re wrapping up our study of Africa by exploring how religious traditions developed, adapted, and interacted in ancient societies south of the Sahara. Students will demonstrate their knowledge and skills of the entire unit with an in-class summative assessment; they will edit two passages for missing or inaccurate information and provide evidence to support their edits.
In addition to receiving academic support during FLEX, we connected the concept of empathy to food insecurity throughout the state and our support of Project 351’s Food Drive.

Please mark your calendars — the concert will take place on Wednesday, Dec. 11th at 6:30pm. We’d love to see you there, supporting our talented musicians!

Dear Community Members,
It is time to end hunger in Massachusetts. This fall, Project 351 is partnering with Loaves & Fishes, our local food pantry serving our friends and neighbors. The urgency to donate is real. Many friends and neighbors rely on Loaves and Fishes for food and personal care items.
Our community can make a significant difference this holiday season with your help. If you are struggling with hunger or food insecurity, you are not alone. Our friends and partners at Loaves & Fishes are here to help you and your family.
On behalf of the eighth grade and the Project 351 Club at Bromfield Middle School, our purpose is to lead this holiday season effort to end hunger in our community, and to help with a statewide effort to eradicate food insecurity in Massachusetts. The food drive ends on Friday, December 13. To donate non-perishable food and personal care items, please look for boxes placed around Bromfield, Hildreth, and Harvard Public Library.
Please help us assist our friends and neighbors by donating to the Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry this holiday season. Thank you for your consideration and support. If you have questions about the food drive, please contact Ms. Cristin Hodgens at chodgens@psharvard.org.
Sincerely,
Project 351 Club, Bromfield School
