Weekly Newsletter | April 30, 2025
Dear Bromfield Middle School Families,
I am thrilled to invite everyone to our Middle School Concert next Wednesday, May 7, at 6:30 PM, in Cronin Auditorium. I know that our chorus and band ensembles have been working tremendously hard to prepare. Our winter concert featured wonderful performances by all; I cannot wait to hear the growth that has occurred since December!
As we celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week and National Nurses Week next week, I want to take a moment to express my admiration for the entire TBMS faculty and staff. Still in my first year as principal, I cannot overstate how impressed by and grateful for the professionals and paraprofessionals I have the pleasure of working with every day. Their hard work for and dedication to the children of Harvard is commendable.
As always, thank you so much to the PTO for leading the charge for Teacher Appreciation week next week. See more info below!
Please let me know if you have any questions. Mr. Daniel Hudder Bromfield Middle School Principal |

WEEKLY UPDATES
SIXTH GRADE
As we enter the final quarter of the school year, we want to take a moment to celebrate the incredible progress your student(s) have made. This year, our students have shown remarkable growth-not just academically, but also socially and developmentally. It’s been wonderful to watch them become more confident, responsible, and engaged learners.
With seventh grade on the horizon, expectations will be rising. Over the next few weeks, we’ll be focusing on building the skills and habits that will help your student succeed in seventh grade. This means encouraging even greater independence, responsibility, and perseverance in their work.
We are confident that, with your continued support, our students will finish the year strong. Let’s work together to help them make the most of these last few weeks-encouraging them to stay organized, complete assignments on time, and participate actively in class.
Thank you for all you do to support your student’s learning journey. Let’s make this final quarter our best one yet!
Warmest regards,
The Sixth-Grade Team

SEVENTH GRADE
This week brought an end to our study of East Asia in social studies. Most recently, we explored periods in Japanese history, elements of the Shinto faith, and the importance of art and landscapes. Next up, we will be traveling the Silk Routes through simulations and role play to learn about people, goods, and geographical features encountered throughout this ancient trade network.
It is a fantastic week to be outdoors! On Monday during FLEX we played a series of bean bag games on the front field to encourage teamwork, cognitive flexibility, and fun; and as a nod to Earth Day, each class will clean up a portion of the school campus. In addition to opportunities for academic support the entire 7th grade met with Mr. Hudder on Tuesday for a class meeting.

EIGHTH GRADE
8th Graders are getting ready for MCAS in Civics, Math, and Science! With the weather getting nice, spirits seem to be high. We are also preparing for the end of the year celebrations and field trip. More to come about this soon. Let’s all stay focussed and finish the year strong!
In Flex, we have been working on MCAS prep, academic support, and reflecting about our goals, achievements and areas that need improvement.

UNIFIED ARTS
The band students have just wrapped up their projects on concert etiquette, and I'm so proud of the thoughtful work they put in! They really seemed to enjoy working with their peers. The task was to create an informational video or pamphlet using jokes or memes and they did a great job! Some of these projects will be shared, so keep an eye out! We’re now turning our focus to fine-tuning our music for the Spring Concert next Wednesday, May 7th at 6:30 PM. In preparation, we’ll be holding a few in-school FLEX rehearsals to combine the two 6th grade sections as well as the 7th & 8th grade band. We are excited to bring the music to life and are looking forward to another great performance—see you there!

PTO NEWS AND EVENTS
It's hard to believe but we're already in the home stretch for the 2024-2025 school year. May brings real signs of Spring and along with it Teacher Appreciation Week (May 5-9). The PTO is looking forward to showing the wonderful teachers and staff at HES and TBS how much we appreciate them and we can't do it without you! We want to involve students as much as we can so feel free to talk to your students(s) how they can get involved.
Check out some ways you can contribute and make this a special week:
"Buy Your Teacher a Coffee" - we'll be having the Muddy Water coffee truck back on the May half day (May 16). Please consider making a donation towards these delicious beverages.
To get the week off to a great start, we'll be sponsoring a breakfast spread of goodies. We welcome donations homemade or store bought. If homemade, please let us know if the treat contains any allergens.
We will also be stocking the staff rooms with a coffee bar during the week. Please consider donating money to help us buy special syrups, flavors, and goodies.
Encourage your student(s) to get involved by taking a few minutes out of their day on Wednesday to help show their appreciation towards the teachers and staff. We'll have a box in the HES front lobby to collect art, notes (to a specific staff member or just generally to say thanks) and any other tokens of appreciation to give them on Wednesday.
If you have any questions please contact info@harvardpto.org
Thank you for all your support in making this an amazing week for our teachers and staff!
