Dear Bromfield Middle School Families,
Almost Opening Day
Thank you to all of our incoming Grade 6 students, new students, and families who joined us for Almost Opening Day on Wednesday! It was wonderful to have students back in the building - finding their classrooms, practicing with their lockers, getting to know the school a little better, and, of course, enjoying some ice cream before heading home. I hope the afternoon helped our newest students feel a little more comfortable and confident as we get ready for the first day of school.
I am especially grateful to Ms. Faulconer for co-hosting the afternoon with me; Ms. Bruning and Ms. Scarborough for helping us serve ice cream; and Mr. Boyle for making sure all of our audio/visual needs were covered. Thank you as well to the faculty members who stopped by to meet students and say hello. It was a nice way to begin welcoming our newest students into the TBMS community.
A Bit More Gratitude
As we prepare to welcome everyone back next week, I also want to recognize the many people who have been working hard throughout the summer to get TBMS ready for another school year. Our custodial team has done tremendous work cleaning, moving furniture, preparing classrooms and common spaces, and tackling the countless other tasks required to get a school building ready for students. Our administrative and technology staff have also been extraordinarily busy behind the scenes, preparing schedules, student information, devices, accounts, communications, and all of the other details necessary for a smooth opening. I am tremendously grateful for all of their hard work.
About This Newsletter
As we gear up for the school year, I also want to take a moment to orient new families - and perhaps reorient returning ones - to the typical structure of our weekly newsletter. The newsletter typically comes out on Wednesdays and is our primary vehicle for sharing regular updates and information about life at TBMS. I generally begin each week with a few thoughts about what is happening at school, highlighting student experiences and accomplishments, sharing important information, and occasionally reflecting on issues that are relevant to our school community.
At the end of this first section, you will also find Upcoming Events that are specific to our school, along with Upcoming Celebrations and Observations, where we recognize religious, cultural, and other significant observances for members of our community. We strive to make this calendar inclusive of the many religions and cultures represented in our community, so please reach out to me if there is an important celebration or observance that I have missed.
The remainder of the newsletter includes brief updates from our Grade 6, 7, and 8 teams and our Unified Arts team, a dedicated section for announcements from our wonderfully supportive Harvard PTO, and Community News & Events. If your organization has an announcement that you would like us to consider for the Community News & Events section, please email our amazing new administrative assistant, Meghan Scarborough, at mscarborough@psharvard.org.

School Drop-off & Pick-up
If you plan to drive your child to school, please enter the campus through the Pond Road entrance and follow the designated drop-off traffic pattern. Please do not use the staff parking lot for student drop-off. Every parking space in that lot is assigned to a specific employee, so even briefly parking in an assigned space can create a domino effect of disruption as staff arrive for the day. Stopping or pulling over in the lot can also interfere with traffic flow and prevent staff members from safely accessing their spaces.
Please follow the same traffic pattern at dismissal when picking up your child. Your patience and attention to the established traffic flow help make arrival and dismissal safer and more efficient for everyone.
Please Update PowerSchool
Before the school year begins, we are asking all families to log into the PowerSchool Parent Portal and review four important forms:
- Demographic Verification
- Health Information Update
- Permissions/Agreements
- Parent/Guardian/Emergency Contact Verification
For each student:
- Log into the PowerSchool Parent Portal. If you need assistance accessing or setting up your account, resources are available on the login page.
- Select your student from the blue menu bar at the top.
- Select FORMS from the menu on the left.
- Open each form, review the information, make any necessary changes, provide consent/signatures where requested, and select SUBMIT.
- Repeat the process for any additional students in your family.

SEVENTH GRADE
Grade 7 Welcome Letter - Class of 2032
Important Note About Grade 7 Lockers:
As you may have noticed, the schedules we sent out last week included locker assignments from Grade 6. That error has now been corrected, and PowerSchool lists the correct locker assignments for all Grade 7 students. Students can access their new locker assignments in PowerSchool, and we will also provide them during homeroom on Wednesday morning.

PTO NEWS AND EVENTS

The PTO supports the whole Harvard Public School community. Even when your children transition to TBMS and TBS, the PTO is still hard at work supporting them! From academic enrichment and classroom resources to student programs and special events, PTO-funded grants make a real impact at every grade level. COMMUNITY NEWS AND EVENTS

|
Families are welcome to come out for the first "Harvard Community Connections" event on Thursday, September 3, from 5 - 7 pm at Hildreth Elementary School! Hudson-based Kith & Kin will be on-site with their food truck to offer dinner options (cash and all major credit cards accepted) and Harvard Girl Scout Troop 64747 will be selling baked goods and water (cash, PayPal and Venmo accepted).
Come learn about the different organizations in town that make Harvard such a special place to live and how your family can get involved!
